How to get rid of grasshoppers

Grasshoppers are devouring my garden. Any suggestions on how to get rid of them?

Yep, they've just about, ate up my tomato plants.
Never seen'em this bad, in years.
I'm in.. I even used, Sevin Dust.

They are bad in Mills county. Wife won't ride the can-am with me because of them. Cheapest pesticide is malathion but it stinks and is contact only. No residual that I know of.

I hardly have any grasshoppers or crickets.
The free-ranging chickens count grasshoppers as one of their favorite foods.
It is a good trade; recycled grasshoppers make the eggs taste great.
