I have no ideas on the proper mounting screw. my animals are away from the fireplace as I have always been worried about the wax used on the mount getting messed up by radiant heat from the fire.

Wax? There should not be any wax on a mount. Ever.

That is an awesome kitchen and living layout! we are in the design phase of our new house and my biggest concern is wall space for my elk and my africa animals coming next year. If you dont mind how tall are the walls in this area and the peak height of the vault? This looks a lot like how i want to hang our deer along the side so it had me curious.
