It hurts. I had my first bout a couple of months ago. It hurt so bad I couldn't walk for a couple of days. The Doctor prescribed a strong anti-imflamatory and Prednisone and it was much better in a couple of days.

Indomethacin is doing it's thing as I'm getting better slowly. Night time still sucks as my sheets are apparently made of rubber allowing no smooth movement across feet without triggering pain!

I take a double dose at the first sign of a flareup. Then follow the directions. [emoji15]

For me, at the first tingles that signal an oncoming flare, two indomethacin will stop it a few hours and prevent the the flare in most cases.

If it gets to be full-blown on fire, hyrdocodone will help you tolerate the pain while the indomethacin gets it calmed down.

My dad almost lost his big toe to it because he let it get so bad. I’ve had it myself and it’s no joke. Feels like my toe is broken when it flares up.

going thru a the tail end of a flare up right now. this time, it didnt hit my big toe (which is weird) but hit my ankle instead.. this is an entire different ballgame. My ankle has been so stiff, ive completely changed my gait. I basically havent stretched/contracted my achilles tendon in nearly 3 weeks. Getting a bit of movement and man oh man is it sore.. ive never had achilles tendon soreness.. this sucks.

Got it a couple weeks after my first knee replacement. Doc prescribed steroids which took care of it until I was out of steroids. It came back with a vengeance and had to go to urgent care for pain meds. Ended up back at urgent care once bloodwork from doc confirmed it was gout and they prescribed colchicine (3 pills). Got back in to see the doc and started the Indomethacin. Seemed better so went forward with the second total knee replacement. The following week the Indomethacin interacted with another med(s) and started having anxiety attacks. Switched to the Allopurinol hoping the gout had subsided enough and been on it for a little over a week. Every morning it feels like the gout is coming back but it subsided after taking the Allopurinol.
It has definitely made rehab a challenge at times but hopefully we’re on top of it now.

I'm seeing a specialist on Monday about trying this stuff
KRYSTEXXA is uniquely effective for out-of-control chronic gout because of the way it lowers uric acid levels. Learn how KRYSTEXXA dissolves gout buildup.

I have been taking allopurinol for ten years plus daily. I can count the flare ups on one hand since I have been taking it.

I’d be interested to see how that process goes.

For you guys taking Allopurinol, are you also drinking the tart cherry juice or just controlling with meds?
