Thanks everyone, we just rolled back into the driveway. It’s been a long day. We decided to forego the rest of the hunt, this will make the 4th deer form our freezer and I’m running out of space and he knows he can shoot does at our place after new year’s and we have plenty of pigs too. I think exotics are a very long shot at pedernales so the decision was made. He was very happy and that’s all that matters.
I’ll tell you I don’t think there is anything cooler than experiencing these moments with my kids. Trace at at the age now where he wants to rehash the shot and the whole hunt afterwards vs just shooting an animal and moving on, he’s growing up. My daughter aged out this year and I already miss the tpwd hunts with her.
We dropped his deer with the taxi so that’s done. He was excited because his sister shot a nice one at our farm over thanksgiving and the deer has triple brows on one side, you may not be able to see in the pic but his deer has triple brows on one side too, what are the odds? He wasn’t a monster but a solid deer for him, main frame 10 with the extra brows for a total of 12pts.
That was a great hunt and the park is neat country especially across the river.
