Default Live Hunt- Lower Rio Grande Valley-Teniente

Did a quick scout this morning along with lots of satellite scouting. Saw a couple nice bulls and one big cow. Also saw one whitetail in the yíall grass.

Set up a tripod about 20-25 yards on a big tank/water hole. Tons of tracks, whitetail, pigs, and nilgai! Bunch of big wallows all around the waters edge. Never seen the valley this green. Headed back to the stand now. Will update when I can.

Few pics of what Iím looking at.
Tripod is on the last pic.

Yea. One big bull or cow is plenty meat for a whole year. Iím not discriminating on any animals, size, race, color, breed, sex, nothing. All are fair game. I passed on several does last year and not doing that this year.

I can tell you for one thing, really really really watch for snakes. We hunt land bordering teniente and have killed 3 rattlers in the past 2 weeks and our neighbors have killed multiple others.

Good luck!

Sow never can back my way. Saw a nice bull on the way out. Within a couple hundred yards of my set up. Weather is changing bigtime, temps will drop all day long with rain mixed in. Looks like an all day sit will be had.

I’m ready. Have had some north wind gusts a few times. Feels fantastic.

Edit this: literally just hit. North wind is moving now. Wind is perfect for the set up. Directly in my face.

Thanks fellas.

Had to make a move. Spoke with another hunter during the downpour. He was on the oppisite side of the water hole. Was there before I set up yesterday.

Off CR 30 overlooking the lake flats. Found a nice mesquite tree to tuck the tripod in. Have two good shooting lanes. One is towards a huge bedding area I just found and the other is to my left in a small draw the animals have made into a highway.
Wind is kicking a lil but is cool and refreshing. Rain is pretty much gone. Bag is loaded with water and food. Here till dark!!!
Right side shooting lane. Bedding in on the right side of pic next to mesquite trees.

Left side overlooking flats and small draw.

Saw 3 cows out crossing the flats. Of course as I was standing next to my truck. Needed a dry sock. Left foot got wet. My danner jackal goretex lined boot didn’t stay dry.

Been back on the stand for a while now. We’ll see what happens.

Had some redneck yayhoo walk up on me. Guess I’m concealed pretty good. Then stood and talked for 20 minutes about how he lost a cow last night and how to hunt them ”nilguy that be out here”.

ARROW AWAY!!!!!

Did a spot and stalk hunting. Came up on a spike about 70 yards out. Wind in my face. He has no idea what I was. Used a grunt call and some doe bleats to get him to work all the way to about 15 yards. Shot was straight into chest. Arrow went in deep and he went flopping away. I think I heard him crash. Give him a few more minutes and I’ll go look. Pumped up right now.

Quick easy track job! Thank you lord!!!!! 30 yard death run. Heard him crash. Not a monster but my very 1st public land kill. Couldnít be more happy right now. Especially bc of how it all played out. That Rage Extreme made it seem real easy. Huge entry hole right where I was aiming!!!
