Thanks fellas. I could not get the perfect focus on the subject. He was slithering towards me and it was the best I could do

I was zoomed in pretty good but could not tell you the focal length. Additionally, I blew up the pic a bit so i could frame it like I would have wanted the pic. As mentioned above, the subject would not sit still

No shotgun blast for this particular snake. I was warned of his presence very early on. I had things to do so, I snapped some pics and let him be. If a rattler allows me to get to close before it warns then it gets a death sentence.

They are actually beautiful creatures and we need some of them out in the sticks. I just wish I had gotten the focus a bit better on the pics.

Not sure on the focal length... It's Nikon cool pix 900that zooms up to 2000 mm and I got in a hurry to take the pics so just snapped away... I am a greenhorn with a camera...
