Good luck everyone. Iíve been traveling a lot for work, so havenít made it out much yet this season. Iíll finally be back home this weekend, but just got a pic of my setup from another buddy hunting there. Looks like Iíll only be feeding the catfish until the lake drops several feet! Up 20 feet in only a few days! Wow!

I had a doe come in this morning at 8am but a young spike had other plans and chased her away before I could get set for a shot.

Had a doe yesterday evening at 20 yards but no clear shot. Then a few minutes 4 point buck walks in on other side. We just stared at each other for about 2 minutes.

Had a doe cruise on by me this evening. She thought about stopping, but for whatever reason just kept on going. Also had a bob cat walk within 5 ft of my blind which was pretty cool to watch.

This wind is going to make it tough. Judging by the game cam, they haven't moved all night though, so maybe there is hope!

Get yourself a Record Rack Berry block from Tractor Supply. They hammer those things out at the lake. One of those lasts about 5 days at my spot. I think the smell it puts off helps with scent control. I could be wrong, but it helps me think they don't smell me because they smell the berry block. Either way they seem to love them. I am in a ground blind and I only open up one small opening facing the block to help with scent as well. I only hand corn. I am convinced the deer at the lake know spinning feeders mean danger after a few weeks in to the season. I literally have had deer walk from behind my blind at 3 yards and walk right in front of my open window that close and then straight to my berry block at 20 yards and they've only blown once so far.

Side note, the deer are coming to my spot at all hours of the day. So I would say sit whenever you can regardless of the time of day. If your blind is overlooking an opening because you thought the visibility would be helpful. Chances are, the deer are walking parallel with that opening in the thick stuff, 20 to 30 yards in. There are so many people out at the lake, biking, hiking, frolicking, etc. that they know to move in the thicker parts to avoid people. Maybe move your stand 30 yards and I bet you see a lot more deer. You're probably missing them by 20 yards or so most sits. I have a tight window (5 yards wide) of visibility out to 30 yards and that's it.

Could have shot a doe this morning if my local fork horn wasn’t chasing them so hard. Little guy was so fired up he almost tore through my ground blind as I was walking by my feeder on my way out.

Is it hunter harassment if another hunter brings in corn to load their feeder right before sunset?! SMH, idiots. Finally had a mature doe lining up for the shot...

Hope others are having better luck than me this year:-)

No, but lame plan on timing. I wanted to fill feeder but only time I could make it was hunting time, so no go. Itís also nice to know whoís around you and get phone numbers and let each other know when your hunting. I have a good group that communicates pretty good. Worth a shot, just get feeder numbers of hunters around you and bring or call the office and get phone contacts if you can.

Maybe the guy hasnít had a chance until now. If it bothers you that much about him filling his feeder at that time, leave him a not at his sight and tell him you are more than willing to fill his feeder because you understand some people have tight time constraints because of work and maybe even young children. Most likely one of these is the case. And that is the true part of public land.

One year ago tonight I shot my first archery buck at my same spot. Man, what a difference the weather is this year. Only got out 4 times without seeing a deer. Last year I remember the front was just coming on like tonight but was raining off and on cold add rain. By the end of the night it was pouring rain while checking and weighing in the deer at Russel Park. One for my memory and one for my wall. Those able to target a buck tonight is hot!! Lol
