Killin Copperheads. Simulating a partially submerged Copperhead with its head and some body above the water line.
Trace your thumb anywhere on a piece of paper. Traced thumb has to be in a vertical orientation.
Draw a horizontal line for the water line. Have no more than 2” of (thumb) head above the water line. (Mine is about 1 3/4” above waterline.) Target point is 1/4” above the water line...below the head. Shot distance is 13 yds. 5 yds for kiddos. Any shooting position you wish. 1 shot per day for 5 days. Measure edge of shaft to center of target point. Only body or head strikes count...anything else is a disqualification. Shots can be no more than 1” below waterline. Best measure of the 5 days is winner. Tie breaker is best measure in fewest shots.
(A few weeks ago I killed a copperhead on the far-side creek bank with my sons Daisy pump air gun with iron sights at 13 yds. Immediately belly up and it sank. I was impressed with the effectiveness and accuracy of the rifle. I already knew of both because its been punching holes in my metal trash can at 20 yds. I wish to work towards that kind of accuracy with my archery...I think some of yall are already there)
Good luck Copperhead Chooters.
