My Grandfather's Key- Need Ideas Please

My grandfather passed in 2003 and I was recently given one of the keys to his old truck.

I'd like to fashion it into a gift to give to my sister, but I don't have any idea on what to do.

Do you guys have any ideas?

    What does your sister like?

    Where they close?
Does she had a fond memory with Grandpa and the truck?

My sister is very low maintenance. She was the first born grandchild and his favorite. They were extremely close.

She should definitely remember the truck.

Maybe find a replica of his truck and display the key with it. Or if you have a picture of the truck display them in a frame.

Wouldn't be hard to make a necklace out of it. I have keys from my dad's first car and my first car and I just keep them on my keyring.

A picture of her and grandpa that includes the truck (siting on the tailgate, in the driveway in the truck, etc.) - in a shadow box with the key and a couple other small mementos.

Have the key bent into a ring.

X2 on the necklace, that would look cool.

I've got a link from the chain that latched the door on the smokehouse that my great great grandfather built to preserve their meat products. I didn't know him but visited that farm regularly when my great grandfather owned it. When the old building was so dilapidated that it had to be torn down, I kept the chain and the old plank door. I cut the chain up into links and gave them to all the great grandkids (adults) as a way to keep us "connected". I don't know what they did with theirs but I see my link daily as it is on my keychain. So, my suggestion to you would be to put that key on your keychain so you can see it everyday as a reminder. For me, it keeps the dogs of everyday life at bay.

Go to a jeweler and have them melt it down and make a simple ring out of it

Bend it into a ring and use a dremel to make a heart from the thick part. Buff the bottom so the teeth don’t pinch.

Search Google images- lots of examples and YouTube how-to’s.

                          Nice project!

Practice on any key then do it!
                              #2 always comes out better.
                              Post a picture when done.
