    Savage Impulse

    Yall see this?

    https://www.savagearms.com/impulse

    -Straight pull bolt action
-Completely ambidextrous (bolt handle swaps sides)
    -Integrated 20 MOA rail

It ain't cheap, but as a lefty, I'm digging it. Only thing I'm suspect on is that the barrel is clamped instead of threaded in.

I got to admit that I’m intrigued with this.

I may have to get one some time in the near future.

Very neat but I’ll pass. I like the comfy feeling of turning the bolt and knowing the locking lugs are engaged

Don't like the barrel attachment method. I'll wait and see on this one.

Yeah, I can see that expensive a price on a fairly unknown system, at least here in the US, could be a kiss of death for this rifle before it get a chance to take off.

You have to compare apples to apples. If you are comparing it to a Savage 110 or Rem 700 it is pricey. If you are comparing it to a Blaser or one of the other rifles with the same type action it's not a bad price at all.

It won't be for everyone. Plenty of guys are going to look at it and say why the extra expense when my bold action works just fine? I think it is a niche market and I think it's another way for Savage to try to ooch up into the higher price points. They have been steadily making moves that direction with things like carbon fiber barrels and stuff like that.

Just looking at it I sure wonder if it won't allow you to switch barrels. It sure looks like the barrel is threaded into some type of sleeve that then is then slid into the action and attached with a series of bolts.

I'm curious to see if a switch barrel setup isn't possible with this system. If not, why use the sleeve instead of threading the barrel directly into the action?

Its a lot cheaper than a Blaser! Cool idea
