EULESS - A Euless officer and a suspect have been pronounced dead after the pair exchanged gunfire at J.A. Carr Park Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded the scene after receiving reports of shots fired. At some point, there was an exchange of gunfire between the officer and suspect, who was hit multiple times.
According to Sr. Cpl. Scott Peterson, a spokesman with Euless police, the officer was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in unknown condition and the suspect was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in critical condition.
Authorities haven't disclosed the identities of the officer or the suspect.
"We would just really ask for everyone's thoughts and prayers to be with [the officer] right now," Deck said.
As a precaution, nearby Harmony Science Academy and Oakwood Terrace Elementary were placed on a lockdowns, which were lifted more than an hour after the incident.
