    .204 or .223 bolt gun

I know few are going to say just buy an AR-15. Have one like it but want a bolt gun for varmint hunting. Have narrowed the choice down to either or Remington 700 or browning xbolt. Of those, which rifle would\caliber would you choose?

          223. Ton of ammo selection and easy to get.

For varmints 204. Its a screaming hoot. Dont need many choices of ammunition for varmints.

I'd go with a .223 depending on how far you'll be shooting and what you'll be shooting. I have a Remington 700 ADL in .223 and its probably the most accurate rifle I own.

My Remmy 700 with the 20" Tact barrel(1:9 twist) shoots sub 0.5 MOA with my reloads (Varget, Hornady 55gr, CCI primers and RP brass). YMMV

The .223 . I'd recommend the three below.

I own a Mossberg MVP in .223 Takes AR mags. Shoots even the heavy(75gr) .223 good in a 1:9. Good factory trigger, nice stock, fluted bbl.
I also have a Savage Axis SS in .223. Put a Boyds stock on it, did a trigger job, good base, rings and glass. You can write your name with it.
Have Ruger American in 5.56 that is also great value priced rifle with a good trigger out of the box. The Axis neck shooter.
Since the Remington/Marlin debacle, I still have my doubts about remlins.
I have AR's in .223/5.56 and TC Encore bbl in .223
I shoot the Savage the most.

I have both, but I really get a BIG kick out of shooting my 204 Savage model 10 and everybody that shoots it says they gotta have one.
Every coyote I have shot with it looks like it has been struck by lightning!
Have taken several hogs with it too.
