    New Bay Boat for 2022

Really trying my best to narrow down my boat search. With the current high demand/cost for used boats, my goal is to start a new build as soon as possible so that it's ready for Spring/Summer 2022. If you were building/buying today, which route would you go and why? Take the following into consideration:

    - Location: Port O'Connor and Seadrift mostly but sometimes Corpus Christi and Rockport
    - Price: Trying to stay between $80K - $90K but max is $100K
    - Engine: 300 at a minimum, possibly 350 or 400
    - Build time: Assuming 6-8 months minimum for most, have heard up to 10-12 months for some
    - Features: Run shallow, get up shallow, fast, smooth in chop and dry ride

Below are some of the boats that I'm considering:

    - Haynie 23 Cat
    - Haynie 23 Super Cat
    - Haynie 24 Cat
    - Shoalwater 23 Cat
    - Majek M2 Illusion
    - Majek Reaper
    - El Pescador 24 Cat
    - JH Outlaw 250X

I bet you don't get any of those in 8 months if you ordered yesterday

I've only rode the jh. With a 300 it was quick enough for me. Wasn't 2 rough that day to say about the ride

7-8 months was pretty standard when I talked to Chris's Marine and Waypoint Marine back in early April. As of last week, I'm being told 10-12 months for a new Haynie build.

In all honesty, on the right boat, I'd be perfectly fine with a 300. Really would only consider a 350 or 400 on the bigger/heavier boats like Haynie.

No kidding. What I can't believe is what some of these used boats are going for right now. Pretty crazy all around.

Used boat prices is what had me looking at a Z21 haynie yesterday. From what I see I could sell for what I paid on my rig 6 years ago!!

I talked to JH last week and the guy told me 12 month build time.

You’re also going to be real dang close to the 100k for the 250x outlaw.

Good to know. I haven't had them price a build for me yet but I've always been curious what they were running. I thought I read somewhere that they were slightly cheaper than Shoalwater and Haynie. Sounds like they're about the same.

I got Shoalwater 23 Cat and Haynie 24 Cat priced towards the end of February and they all fell in the $80K - $90K range.

Shoalwater 23 Cat with Mercury 300L Pro XS - $84,127.30
Haynie 24 Cat with Mercury 300 Pro XS - $81,354.62
Haynie 24 Cat with Mercury 300 Pro XS DTS - $83,281.46
                    Haynie 24 Cat with Mercury 300 Verado - $83,318.72
                    Haynie 24 Cat with Mercury 350 Verado - $85,889.63
                    Haynie 24 Cat with Mercury 400 Verado - $89,439.92

Smooth in chop kills the Illusion off your list

All depends on what you want option wise. I’m looking at a 210 and the bare basic boat with a 200 starts at 55k. So 85-100k on a 250 depending on how you rig it.

They did tell me I can put a 250 on the 210x if I rig it with a raised console. I figure it will scream with a 250.

                          Outlaw or Reaper

Reaper (old SCB) hull is awesome but does it really have a 36-40 gallon gas tank? 300 HP gonna eat thru that fuel pretty quick.
