    Time for a new string?

What are the signs to look for to know when it’s time to replace the string? I’ve got a Samick Sage, had it since fall of 2019, and I’m still using the string it came with. I’ve noticed a bit of fray or separation around the loops, and it’s got me wondering. I’m at work right now, I’ll post some pics this evening, but is there a recommended life-span for strings? Should I be changing the string on a schedule like oil-changes? Is it a stupid idea to get several strings and trade them out regularly? Am I disqualified from the title of “True Archer” until I’ve had a string break at full draw?

A good string should get 10,000 shots if taken care of well.
One that age, and the original, might be worth replacing.

Everything I have read from folks that have Sages says to replace the stock string with a good string anyway. No way we can know what to tell you without pics to go by though.
