Had an opportunity to hunt one of the older deer we’ve had around for awhile this year. My wife has killed whitetail and muleys but not a whitetail that was shoulder mount worthy so we decided she’d hunt an older 10 we had that was on the shoot list as a known 7 yr old. The first four sits he was a no show after being one of the most frequent deer at the feeder. Something was up. Figured we were bumping him somewhere down the creek heading to the stand. 5th sit we changed up our entry to try and not bump him on our approach and it worked. He was out in the gray light before the feeder slung, and not long after good shooting light he presented the shot she was comfortable with and the skimming commenced. We hunted him for a low 40’s buck and he ended up stretching the tape to 151 1/8”, her best whitetail buck by a dozen-fifteen inches.
