It has nice pocket water but better suited for dropping a fly into a small pool vs casting. I fished a lot of it at philmont scout ranch

Trout of any decent size in the cimarron? It looks like an eastern brookie stream. That’s what I grew up on slinging flies under branches.

At philmont ranch it is the upper reaches that I fished and fairly small water. Only caught small browns, nothing of any size. Used to fish around waynesville,nc and those brookies were fun.

I’d say this is a tad above average for the Cimarron, this was last year in August.

Heading to Eagle Nest for a guided trip. I need to catch a pike. Regular tackle. I’ll keep y’all posted.

Love Eagle nest. Caught a ton of pike there. Took a handful of 3/8 oz spinnerbaits (for bass) and caught a ton. Drop worms for yellow perch, troll for trout.

                          Always a family favorite!

Jeremy Jines. Super slow fishing. Didn’t see anyone catching.

                                Going to Rio Castillo tomorrow.
