All of the above. I would add a section of old blanket maybe 4' x 6'. When you are on the side of the road and gotta get under your truck and you dont want to lay in the stickers or mud or gravel

Several good lists on here already. Always seems like no matter how much crap I stuff in mine, I’m still missing something I need. Best thing that I’ve recently added is a Milwaukee battery impact. I use it all the time for random stuff and makes changing a tire a breeze. I even welded a 13/16” nut onto my spare tire tool so I can use the impact to lower it quicker.

One thing I haven’t seen listed is shovel. I usually have a mini-shovel in my pickup in case I get stuck.

Axe, shovel, chain, straps, rope to pull cars out, jumper cables, road flare, wool blanket, bag of hand tools, lighter, knife, flashlight, cheap rain gear, camping canteen, tarp, trash bags, extension cord, zip ties, ice scraper (gets icy in IA and you need to scrap your windshield off!), thick rubber boots, and lastely a plastice bag with long johns, a hoodie, thick socks, snow mobile mask, snow googles, and thick gloves.

I can fit all of this in one small 2x2 tub box I keep in the back of my truck and take it out if im hauling cargo around that requires max bed space (I have a topper on my car). Started off with only a road flare, cables, and straps. After being stuck out in the rain or being broke down in the winter back in college I started to add on after each "event" lol.
