What is everyone using as far as hard sided cases?
I need to get one for my new bow, one that is airline approved as I’ll be flying with my bow a couple times a year and can stand up to be tossed around. I’m not exactly interested in the SKB’s that are 400-500$ as that is outrageous. I like my Boyt rifle cases I fly with and want a bow case that is just like them. I’ve been looking at the Avalon Bow Bunker and Pelican V730. Anybody have or use one of these? |

I have the SKB that's rotomolded. It was like $200, and it has been great.

I’d keep my eye out for a used SKB. Lifetime warranty and from what I understand if your bow is ever damaged in one, they’ll replace it.

You can buy the skb plush model on line for high 200s low 300s, in my opinion they are the best.

Mary and I both have the SKB iSeries cases and they have served us very well. I will not hesitate to put them on a plane when the time comes. Last edited by TX_Kevin; 02-16-2022 at 10:04 AM. |

I bought an SKB for my wife's Prima when we picked it up in October. You definitely can't go wrong with one, from our experience.
I tried to get one for my V3X when I bought it last month but I couldn't find one anywhere at the time. I ended up buying a Case Club, not sure of the model because I'm at work, and it's also very nice. It has a few features my wife's SKB doesn't have, it also came with a perforated metal container with desicant for moisture control. |

The SKB Iseries are worth the money, but my traverse won't fit in one with my stabilizer setup so I went with the hunter series. The hunter series isn't waterproof and doesn't have rollers, but its a little lighter.
If you get the pro series they come with TSA locks if that matters to you. |

My Lakewood Bowfile case has served me well, and it made flights to Canada and South Africa, with no issues whatsoever. Plus there's plenty of room in it to pack extra clothes, as well.

My SKB double has made it to and from Africa on two trips and survived the TSA baboons with flawless results, I’m a believer in the buy once cry once motto.

I hear ya and generally agree. I just don’t understand the price when you can get a rifle case just the same for half the price of the bow cases.

I put rifles in is as well. I can’t stuff a Sendero in it but my 22-24” barrels fit in it. I can also pack a weekend of clothes in it if I only carry one bow or rifle. I’ve had other decent hard cases before but it’s what I use now. ![]() |

I'm starting to think that if you're going to fly with a bow with any frequency, it would be worth buying a Gearhead. We have one our youth archery program is raffling off and it's super short axle-to-axle. Would fit in a suitcase!

If you want to work a TBH express I have an SKB used that I would part with-- has TSA #2 locks (I have no keys) everything on the case is in working order.

I just looked, and I don't see them on the site anymore, but if you keep searching, you will find something. For example, the following just needs the foam installed. For sub $200, I would be all over that, and cut the foam exactly how it needs to fit. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...c=ds&gclsrc=ds |

I picked up my SKB i-Series case on Amazon a few years ago. I travel with my bow on the airlines at least twice a year. Case does an amazing job. It was only $200.00. I have the TSA locks on it as well.
Whenever you do get a case remember to put a zip tie around your bow sting to the riser to keep pesky TSA agents from trying to draw your bow. |

I just picked up a Pelican Vault V730 off Amazon for $203. It was a good price, solid, has wheels and will hold the bigger bows. I have a Hoyt Ventum Pro 33 and it fits it well. Solid case IMO and wont break the bank.

I would have said consider a Plano, but recent events have me encouraging everyone to stay away from them. Having hunting in Illinois and Canada for probably 10 years, my cases get some serious airport love. The handles on my Plano have busted twice. The first round was easy as they replaced them on their nickel, sending me new handles and I quickly replaced. These lasted about 5 years of travel and then two of four busted again. This time, they indicate covid and supply chain has them with no spare parts and to come back and try again later this fall/ early next year. Now they aren't even replying to my emails.

I bought the cheapest one I could find at my local bow shop when I purchased my last bow:
https://www.amazon.com/Flambeau-Outd.../dp/B000P9YEDU It barely fits my 33" Mathews V3X, but it works well and it only cost me about $60. |
