To me, Smartwool is the best base layer.

I hunt KS some and it gets quite a bit colder there than it does here.
On really cold days I start with UA Base Layers, I believe that they are the 1.0s.
I will then layer over with the UA 4.0 bottoms and a UA hoodie. Depending on how cold it is, I may throw a vest on under the hoodie. I then wear the Cabela's Wooltimate Windshear as my outer layer. I only wear liner gloves and keep hot hands in my pockets. I will throw on a neck gaitor too along with my Carhartt beanie. I stay plenty warm in this set up.
On warmer days that are cold, i will usually just wear the UA 1.0s with my Scentblocker Mack Daddy suit.
I wear UA boots with normal socks. I will carry my arctic shield boot blankets with me, slip them on once I am in the stand and drop a hard warmer down inside of it. Feet stay plenty warm that way. Almost too warm at times!
I don't like being cold and I have figured out what works for me.
