Nooooooo!!!! Don't even float that thought. I had not heard or read anything on that as the attendance numbers have been off the charts.

With Miami I bet there will not be an Austin F1 race anymore, could be why F1 permitted Nascar to race there this year. Greg Abbott doesn't want the state to subsidize Liberty media anymore and he shouldn't. The sanctioning fee for F1 is insane compared to other major racing series like Nascar or Indycar, but you can see why they are a true world tour, crazy expenses.

It was a great race & I liked the track...just finished the Moto GP of portugal & worth a watch. Two podium spots laid them down with less than 6 to go. Not sure how those tires stick at those speeds.

Was at the lease this wknd so had to record the race and watch it last night.
RAIN! Love it- shakes up the strategies. Not my favorite track due to it being so hard to pass. Max was class all race. Great recovery by Hamilton- going to be a great championship race this year.
Botas should have b%#%@-slapped pretty boy Russell when he got in his face after hitting the grass.
Gasley's team made a bad call with the wet tires that cost him spots. Ferrari looked better.

Definitely a great race! Max did an awesome job, and definitely deserved the win. Hamilton did a great job climbing back to 2nd place after his spin. Him reversing out of the gravel was great!!

On the restart, when Norris passed LeClerc, I was cheering loud enough to wake everyone!

Bottas & Russell — I feel it was Russell’s fault. He took the wet line to pass Bottas, and over reacted when Bottas moved slightly to the right. When I initially saw Russell go up to Bottas after the accident, I thought he gave him a pat on his shoulder. When they replayed it, the commentators said he slapped his helmet. Very poor sportsmanship in my opinion.

I have heard the same thing regarding Abbott and Liberty Media. I’ll enjoy it as long as it is in Austin, though. And hope that it continues in Austin for many more years. They spent a LOT of money to build that track for the sole purpose of bringing Formula 1 back to the US.

Absent a favorable red flag which gave Hamilton a lap back and repair time, he would not have been back in the hunt for a podium.

Mercedes luck never ends....

IMO hardly fair to the other teams and drives. I guess it all equals out but as an Anti-Mercedes fan....chaps me.....

That is the truth! Hamilton blows a tire, he happens to be coming to the pit lane. They have an issue, and there is a full safety car yellow somewhere immediately …. it seems like they have a rabbit's foot stuck somewhere.

Sorry guys. Late to the game here. I'm busy on weekends and can only watch the race 2 days after, due to copyright restrictions on the F1 TV app. Finally watched the race yesterday. I'm really happy with how Ferrari ran throughout the race. Carlos Sainz I feel is getting more and more comfortable with the Scuderia Ferrari. I'm thinking Ferrari will have a MUCH better season this year and feel it's going to be an out and out battle with McLaren. I cannot believe (I can but I'm reluctant to admit it) how well Lewis Hamilton did coming from behind with all the bad luck. That yellow flag after his issue saved him! Dang the luck! It's going to be an amazing season between Red Bull and Mercedes this year again. Go Max!!!

Just now seeing this thread, did they actually run on the sand in Bahrain? The only F1 race I have been to was in Bahrain and they certainly put on a show outside the stands.

Heck, the sand was blowing everywhere during the practice days and Q day......so yea, they ran over and onto the sand at times! Race day was not as windy. F1 definitely brings a show when globetrotting. Amazing experience!

I seem to have one of those good conundrums this wknd.
Last youth sports game is at 10:30 am Saturday. Do I... head to the lease and go Turkey hunting or stay home and head to TMS Sat evening for the Indy race?
Decisions!

Looks like we’re losing the Canadian GP this year. Will be back next year, though. Turkey will replace it this year.

I’ve been to that race twice. It’s a really cool track. In fact, the first F1 race I ever went to was in Montreal in 1994. The sound of those engines (especially the Ferrari) were magical.

I saw that announcement earlier this morning. That last Turkish race was awesomeness, great battles. Hopefully next year we can hit Montreal, Austin & Miami over 3 or 4 weekends in North America.

How does Ocon go P4 in Q2 session and Alonso is stuck in 13th? Disappointing lap. Also, see Ricciardo. Yikes.
Mercs look fast so far.
And looks like rain tonight at TMS for the Indy race. Boo.

Yes, Ocon looked very strong in the Alpine, as did Gasly (AT) and Russell (Williams). Great showing from all of them!

The Red Bull’s were struggling with the wind at certain corners, and I believe that’s what hampered them to 3rd and 4th. Good job to Bottas for taking pole. All MB front row for tomorrow’s race start.

I always enjoy Kimi’s radio transmissions. This morning was awesome — “I’m sure we have somebody on the team that can figure this out!” ROFL

It might be a mad rush to halfway, they moved the start at TMS to 30 minutes from now up to 6:10pm. They got a second race tomorrow thats longer distance, weather looks better.

Man they ruined track at TMS between the repave and the traction compound and the crowd shows, shame I remember when that place was full for the Cup race and 3/4 full for the indycars. Reminds me of what they did to Bristol.

I was able to catch alot driving back from Arkansas on the F1 TV app when the signal was decent. Great race in Portugal . Technical skill and experience won that race. It was very exciting and look forward to the total replay tomorrow sometime. Spain next week and I suspect Redbull and Silver Arrows will both be at the top. Good to see Gasly get points again and Alonso was in the mix also. Ferrari better figure out their strategy and get moving sooner than later. Oh, Lando Norris is gonna be a superstar in the next few years.....he can drive that magi colored car!!!

Yes, a great race from MB and Hamilton. I was a bit disappointed that Bottas lost pace during the race. I think it’s a bit too early to start blaming team orders.

It’s great to see Red Bull so close to Mercedes. And McLaren had a great day as well — go Lando!!

Looking forward to Barcelona this weekend.

Disappointed with Ferrari in Portugal. Really interested to see what the problem was with Carlos Sainz during the last 3 laps. Couldnt even finish in top 10 and score 1 point!!! Was it driver or engine related? Ugh! Looking forward to Barcelona.

The report was he loss all tire grip. The conversation post race was that Ferrari's strategy for the race put him in that position. Hopefully they get it together as the other teams ain't kidding around this year.

P1 and P2 in the books for Barcelona, Spain. Silver Arrows no issue setting the bar, with the last 4 races here going to Hamilton. Ferrari right there with Charles LeClerc. Gasly ran well in both practices at 6th. Alpine has Spaniards so they filled in the gaps really good. Redbull was out of sync to me and never pushed. Verstappen damaging his wing was driver era on a normal sausage curve. Oh, after seeing these two semi's in Baton Rouge I made it to Mom & Dad's in record time.......Ha!!!!

Cool pictures!!

Yes, Mercedes is of course fast, but the Alpines had great pace today as well. I think we’re going to have a really close qualifying session tomorrow.

Come on Red Bull and McLaren!!

Ive got the paid subscription for the F1 TV app. I have the basic subscription which means you can view all practices, qualifying, races, pre and post race interviews and analysis. It even has an Archive where you can watch previous years races. Yes you can view the race from different TV angles, listen to in car audio and car cameras. Only caveat is with the basic subscription you have to wait 2 days after each event before you can view it. The pro subscription gets you same day viewing.

Qualifying day was all that and some!!!!
Hamilton has this track down pat, and it showed. Even with a mistake he still got the pole......his 100th in F1!!!! Bottas was right there as was Verstappen. Perez had 2 mistakes that surprised me honestly. Tsuanado is young and aggressive but he has to get smarter quickly. His post Q day interview won't geaux over well with the team & sponsors. Gasly came up short but I am not sure why yet.

Decent race for that track! Hate only 2 places on the circuit to make a pass. Red Bull got outsmarted today by Mercs. But fun to watch Lewis make that charge- Max had no shot and he knew it.
Kind of enjoyed Bottas not pulling over for Lewis with a few laps left.
