Going to McAllen where to eat

Going to be staying in McAllen for White Wing hunting. Need some non chain places to eat. Love the Mom Pop type restaurant type places.

If you go to Delia’s make sure and bring home a couple dozen for later. They are the best I have ever had. Get them shipped in large orders, but that gets expensive.

Fernando’s in Pharr for breakfast. El Rancho Grande in San Juan is good for lunch. Assuming you want Mexican food. They are not technically in McAllen, but only a few miles east.

Costa Messa is good. I also like Palenque Grill. Ranch House Burgers in Mission is very good as well. Delia's used to sell their frozen tamales at a reduced price. I think they've since wised up and now everything's priced the same - expensive, but worth every penny! Do bring extras home to freeze for later.

Arturos in Weslaco. The Yard House in McAllen is pretty cool too. Tons of beer on tap.

There is a place out in Pecos that makes the big fat ones. The green chile ones are pretty hot.
