We had our orientation at 11:00 this morning, and went out into the unit to scout. The biologist gave us a couple of areas that he thought would be promising to hunt. The first looked good, but we jumped birds at the second location, and decided on it. I parked the truck, and we walked about 80 yards and I called once just for the heck of it. A different group gobbled, and came running. They came so fast, we didn’t have time to get set up. They saw us and just eased off into an oak mott. We scouted a little, and set up the blind a little further down from where we saw the 2 groups. All tucked in the blind and DSD’s are set. See if we can’t get a bird down this afternoon, the weather turned out perfect today.

Worried about the Easterns, they clear cut a big part of our lease last fall, and the birds are really scattered right now.
