    6.5 Question

So I just won a 6.5 Creedmore last night at a RMEF banquet. Yea me!
And I’m looking at a Leupold scope, and looking at different ammo. Currently I’m leaning towards Barnes Vor-Tx 120 grain. What are you using and thoughts?

    Thanks!

Hornady 6.5 ELD-X has been the best shooting ammo I have found. Every gun is different though.

Hornady precision hunter and hornady match is quality ammo. I’d be floored if your rifle doesn’t shoot it well. Do you have reloading components?

                  Congratulations on the big win.

What was the make/model of the rifle you won?

                    Hornady 143 eldx
                    Hornady black 140 BTHP

Those should be great to start with. I have about 6 different types of 6.5 that I shoot. From 95gr vmax to 156 Barnes. But those 2 shoot great out of almost any rifle as mentioned.

Buy what you'd like to shoot when you come across it.

Same for me but during this shortage I have been shooting some light bullets, with hotter loads and have been happy.

I have a case of the Superperformance 120gr that is phenomenal on paper. I haven't used it on an animal yet.

First, your rifle may like different ammo than mine. My 6.5 has 1 in 8 twist. It prefers bullets in the 140 or so weight range, but shoots 129 fairly good. Mine likes Hornady best and Federals next.
I have shot Hornady Match white 140 ELDM. 5 shot group in .328" at 100 yds. Hornady Black 140 BTHP, 3 shot groups into .269" and .279" at 100 yds. The Black also shot a .796" 3 shot group at 200 yds, followed by a 1" 3 shot group, also at 200 yds.
And this is from an El Cheapo rifle that cost less than $300.

My 6.5 loves the hornady whitetail.
100 effective on deer and hogs.

Unfortunately I do not reload at this time
