Default Covert Code Black

Here is the latest from Covert. Great cameras. 2 antennas if you have weak service.

I have an extra one and will pass along the good deal I got when I bought it.

$300 pickup in Katy.

I have a buddy running 1 Bigfoot and 1 Covert. He is getting better results from the Bigfoot while it costs less and the monthly plan is less.

I would put a new Covert Code Black LTE on my hog trap, if I was building a set up like you. Don’t forget the Solar Panel and Eneloop Pros. Set camera to operate on Real Time and you can command it to take a pic right now. You can share data plans and have all cameras linked to your phone via simple app.

Verizon is shutting down their 3g network at the end of the year. All 3g devices on their network will be effected. No way for a 3g camera to send pictures if there is no 3g network.

AT&T will do the same in 1-2 years. No firm date on their 3g shut down yet.

The Impulse is their newest cell cam available right now. You buy the ATT data plan through them. Itís the highest cost plan I know of right now at $19.99/month.

You can also try this avenue to get support:

https://support.spartancamera.com/hc...mmunity/topics

Use the email address and password associated with your spartan camera account to log in.

Itís supported by a couple of very knowledgeable folks.

I was trying to get my issues resolved during deer season since my lease is 400 miles from where I live. I tried the phone, chat, and email. The chat experience was absolutely horrible. If I were the owner I would disable that feature. Thatís only going to make people angry. Anyway, never got resolved and never got a call back or a reply to my email and now I wonít be back at the lease for a few months to try again. This is nothing new. The customer service side of spartan has never been up to par with covert.

Just a thought for the guys not really wanting to throw out a ton of money on a cell cam. Spypoint is releasing their newest cell camera, the Spypoint Link Micro in April. $150 cell camera and probably the smallest one out there. It's something I will be considering here soon.

You can get an upgraded camera for $200.00 from Covert and you get to keep the old one. The pld one will quit sending at the end of the year. I justdid this. Contact Covert.

i only responded to the thread because i saw verizon 3G discussion and realized it didn't matter what brand of camera you had.

I guess $200 is better then 300. Plus can keep the old one as a regular camera even though the older models missed alot of pics.

Spypoint wireless, with cell tower in range for surveillance or food plot. Photo quality is good, but not to read a licence plate.

Question: (Keep in mind I'm a first time cell cam buyer and learning...) I have AT&T as my cell provider. It looks like the Covert Code Black LTE uses AT&T, but my lease doesn't seem to pick up a good signal from my cell. Verizon seems to have a better signal there. If I got the Covert, would it only use my AT&T service, Or does the camera ping from different towers supported by Verizon? The Spypoint can support either Verizon or AT&T, but the reviews seem to point to Covert.

Covert sells Verizon cameras. You have to get the specific network you want just like a cell phone.
If Verizon has better service at your place get a verizon camera.

Anyone tried cuddeback with cuddelink/ cellular? I’ve got a hilly place with reception on top and not in the bottoms. I just don’t know if it’s worth it to try since they’re expensive and no guarantees it will work how I want it to.
I had okay luck with bushnell. One worked fine the other bushnell camera would send 20 pics all at once instead of right after taking individual picture.I think bushnell solar panel they sell has a smaller battery it charged which runs the camera. It then runs on internal batteries at night if the small battery loses its charge. Covert recharges the internal batteries. Had coverts since they first came out and they have gotten better in cell reception and ease of use. My covert has been out for a year now without touching it working well.

Covert makes a Verizon camera . I believe it is called the Blackhawk?

Same camera with a Verizon antenna.

Same camera with a Verizon antenna.

Update: I got the Covert Blackhawk with the solar panel and booster antenna. I set it up and had some issues with sending manual test photo's etc. I have a good signal, but they said Verison had conectivity issues on Their end. I took it to the deer lease and got it all set up and tried to send a test pic..., yea, It wouldn't work... After talking to customer support, they had me disconnect the antenna, wait 15 seconds, pop out the battery compartment/re install, update the firmware, update the SD card, and shake a chicken bone at it... I finally got it to send a test pic to my cell. When I got home, I tried to send a manual test pic to myself and it didn't work. A day passed, and I started getting pics of hogs etc for about 4 hours straight! Then it just stopped. I called customer service, again and they're sending free postage so I can mail it back. They want to test the camera and booster antenna. If there are camera issues, they said they would send a new camera and have it set up and ready to go when I got it. If the antenna is bad, they'll replace it. They also said they would comp my service plan for lack of service and issues. Customer service has been great, and doing everything they can. I just hope they can get it resolved so I can use it.

For you folks that seem to have low to week signals, try looking into yagi antennas. These antennas seem to make a significant difference. You just have to point them in the direction of the cell tower.

Just picked up the $149 Spypoint to give it a try. Picked it up at Cabelas.

Also ordered a directional cell antenna off of Amazon to hopefully address cell signal issue at the location where it is going to be mounted.

If the Spypoint doesnt work out, I figure I will take it back and return it. So far, at the house all seems to be working just fine. Could not have been easier to set up.

Not true!

I just paid $175 for upgraded version. Beginning in 2020 AT&T will BEGIN the process with the towers. It will be a slow process and take 3 years.

So you have 8 more months at a bare minimum and more then likely 2-3 years I was told last week

I love my Covert's and Spartans

Looks like they have been released, but I can't seem to locate them in stock anywhere. But you can order them online at different retailers.

Also ordered a directional cell antenna off of Amazon to hopefully address cell signal issue at the location where it is going to be mounted.

From initial reviews, they look to be a "get what you paid for camera!"

Not built very well, signal issues, poor quality and eats batteries. I'll pass

I have 60 days to make a final decision with the Spypoint Micro - figured I am not risking anything - other than a second trip to Cabelas - which is not necessarily a bad thing.

If it works, great, I got a cell cam for $149. If not, I will return and upgrade. They do have a 2 year warranty on them from Spypoint - for what that is worth.
