Default Best wireless camera

Hey guys, Iím looking to find the best wireless camera that sends you text messages of either video or pictures to your phone when you have it out. Iím building a hog trap that Iím able to drop through my phone as well. So looking for a camera to be pretty fast to be sending me the information. What Iíve read so far. Covert, snyper, and spartan are the top thatís in reading. Any information will help, thanks!

I have a Spartan and would not recommend it to anyone. Difficult to set up. Get a Spypoint, easy set up and they offer there own data plan so you do not have to hassle with a cell service provider.

I have a moultrie and spypoint. The moultrie constantly goes down. I have timed them both to see how long it takes to get pictures. The moultrie takes about 15 minutes and the spypoint usually sends them within 2 minutes.

Have 4 spypoint and 2 coverts going.
Used to have all coverts, but switching them out with spypoint.
I have better luck and reception with spypoint. Easy to use as well.

I have Coverts, haven't had too many problems. More with the app than with individual cameras.

Some company had a brand new, very small model they were advertising at the ATA show. Saw it on facebook. Can't remember which company it was.

We didn’t realize how many missed pictures on the Covert until last couple years. Several instances when we would be hunting a stand and see several deer and no pictures taken. Also about every 2 weeks they stop working and you have to reset.

We run three covert AT&T wireless cameras on hog traps and deer feeders, they do require a good cell signal and solar panels on auxiliary power supply.

I have 2 Spartans that will quit working before the end of 2019 , something about Verizon shutting them off.
I bought a solar powered spartan in September that has worked well and still on the first set of batteries

Snyper has been good for me however you cannot command it to take a photo and as of Jan 1 AT&T stopped forwarding the pics via text. I still get them but only on the free app.

What kind of data plan does spypoint offer, and can I use ATT instead of them if I wanted?
Thanks

Do you have a link or other source for this? I had heard they would not activate/support the 3G ones going forward but i have never heard they would stop transmitting pics.

I have 4 coverts. All work great and especially on their solar panel and the eneloop batteries. I have one that is at 2 years without a battery change. 2 others at one year. Older models did miss a few pics. New ones are much improved.

Reconyx is the best without a doubt, never misses pics and sends full resolution pics to your email quickly and most importantly never any problems. The old Spartans were good but heard bad things about the newer models. Iíve heard to many complaints about Coverts not sending pics on this site.

Not thrilled with the negative reviews on their website. I wish this was an easier decision for me, I donít mind spending the money, but nervous of buying the wrong one.
I will probably need an antenna extension and a remote battery pack with solar panel. Some of the areas have fairly dense piney woods. Also I have pretty good ATT signal out ther.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks

You will not need remote battery pack for a Covert. 12 rechargeables in the camera and done.

Look into the major spypoint debacle a few weeks ago. Basically bricked half the cameras. They found a fix but you had to physically be at camera to do it. Had one for a week wouldnít connect at my spot. Put up a covert this week and no issues.

I have a spartan that I have been running about 6 months. Getting one setup is a pain.
Once going its fine. I have mine so I pay $ 11.99 per month and it is AT&T but I go thru Spartan. I don't have to pay AT&T.
The only thing is that if you have a second camera, right now it would require another plan. I wish you could piggy back them on the same plan, just maybe getting a bigger plan for the more data.

All I will run is Spartan and Covert. Covert's customer service is hard to beat.

Look around the brand new LTE model Covert's can be found for $300-330 and the Spartans $350.

The prices will drop in 2019 on wireless cameras, just pay attention to the plan cost. They will go up and get their money that way

I bought one called Bigfoot last year and it's basically a Spartan clone. It's okay pictures and sends them usually in 2 minutes of time stamped on picture. The reason I got that one was the price and not having to get a plan with a cell company, it will use best available tower. I only used it a couple of months and then took it down because of livestock being put on the place during offseason.

Call and talk to the experts at Trailcampro.com - 1800-791-0660. With their 2 year warranty and great customer support I will not buy another cell came from anyone else. These guys are great and will steer you in the right direction. I am not affiliated with them at all. Just sharing my experience with them.

I have run lots of Coverts and Spartans. I have had better luck with the Spartan as far as reliability. Every Covert I have had took a thousand pictures a week of nothing in the heat of Summer. I rarely get a false picture on my Spartans. That said, I will probably try another Covert when the Spartans die. Spartan customer service is crappy. I've been waiting on a call back from them for over 2 months now.
