Heading out next weekend for a scouting trip. Hope to find a couple good spots for the opener.

I'm thinking of doing some scouting this weekend. Has anyone heard when Nails Creek State Park will open back up?

It was damp out there 2 weekends ago. I bet it's flooded now.

Gonna make it a little rough getting in away from the road hunters.

Ya we've had 6"+ of rain in the area so far this week. I bet it has quite a bit of standing water again.

Its alright, means instead of leaves crunching from approaching deer it'll be puddles splashing! hahaha

In seriousness, it will more than likely be another year like last year. Tons of mosquitoes from standing water everywhere, full chest waders needed to cross creeks, and a few days where ya just drive out there, see the creek, and drive right back home.

I'll be out there a few weeks before the opener, I'll update what the creeks are looking like.

Wow, Yegua really didn't get too high up, comparative to last year at least. I remember when it was up there in the orange shaded region last October!

Are these photos from the Nails Creek State Park? Awesome bucks!

...Just saw its Birch Creek State Park off the trailway. Photos like that will get ya up and wanting to hunt!

Great deer. My bet is that they never enter the public hunting area. Biggest buck I've seen out there two years ago was a 130 class ten point chasing a doe across the road near nails creek. He was real nice.
