Default Big Bend 2020

Well I'm finally getting around to getting some of my Big Bend photos posted, and figured I may as well share. It was an epic trip in the Chisos with some weird weather, and a lot of great miles on the boots. We did three nights in the backcountry, and I loved every minute of it!

Awesome pics. The family and i camped in the chisos basin campground last may and had wicked storms every night when it got dark. Never got to stargaze and nearly lost our tent on the last night there.

Still can't wait to go back and do a solo trip where i can do the longer hikes.

I love going out there, I could live out there. Those are some nice pictures, really like them. That would be very cool to camp up there. Probably not many bears up there at night. The bears seems to all or most all go out into the desert at night looking for prickly pears to eat, not sure if the prickly pears have pears on them right now, if they do, you should see signs of bears and coyotes eating a lot of the pears.

The last time we were there, we went up the Lost Mine Trail, it was beautiful, the view is amazing. While we were up on top, one of those small rain storms came through, dumping rain and it had lightning in the cloud or clouds. Hearing and seeing the lightning from up on top of the mountain, the rain clouds were just a little above us. The sound of the lightning was pretty cool, with a nice little light show.

Thanks! These were shot mostly with the Canon 5D Mark IV, and a couple of different lenses, but most were probably the 24-70 f/2.8L II

Beautiful pictures of Big Bend area. Not for everyone I guess, but you have captured why many of us really dig that rough, wild country. “Milky Way Cactus” is outstanding.

Spent many a year trecking to the South Rim when I was younger. Now I doubt my mid 70's legs could get me up there so the pics were a real treat. Love "the Boot" "Boot Canyon" "Elephant Tusk"

Yessir, we camped 3 nights in the Chisos on this trip. There is excellent camping all over the park, but IMO it is hard to beat the primitive camping in the Chisos basin if you don't mind hiking in a few miles to your campsite with your gear on your back.

Great pictures young man. My Wife and I are headed there to explore the back roads of BBNP and BBRSP if the back roads are open then. We backpacked into boot springs and camped out one November, woke up to 3" of snow and bitter cold. It was fabulous. You captured it well.
