SACAGAWEA came in the mail last night. I work this weekend so not much time to shoot it, but sometime soon I'll write a good run on sentence of my updated bio.

Ok I've got to shoot Sac some, the spike is definitely safe from me hunting with her. When SACAGAWEA was built I was engaged with no kids and a huge back yard. I guess it was built 2011. I married my wife the very next year in 12 and she's been busy finding ways to keep me busy with honey do's and out of the woods ever since. During the building of sac I was pretty involved with traditional archery shooting either my bear or sage everyday I could. As well as building a board bow from an website I found online from our very own Sam Harper who happened to join TBH a few years later. My wife only has one ovary and was told getting pregnant most likely was going to be difficult. I figured we were young it would be years before we would probably have kids and I had a real good job now so my hunting world was about to be wide open. Well they were WRONG. In 2013 we had our son and quickly followed it up with our daughter in 2014. As our family grew we needed more room for kids to crawl around and run through the house. We bought a bigger house that had way more room inside but the yard leaves a lot to be desired. This halted just about all my bow shooting which I did mostly in the living room and garage while the family was no home. I'm sure my wife wouldn't have liked that but luckily I never had an errant arrow that I would have to explain. So basically I was back entirely on my compound and off of my trad bow. I still loved following this side of the forum because Buff and Bisch were my hero's because I never was that good of a bowhunter and was amazed at what they accomplished with stick and string. As time has passed my bow hunting has dwindled down with 2 kids and a wife in nursing school. She did great and graduated last year so hopefully my bows start getting more use. I still dream about killing a deer on public land with a bow I built myself. (I broke my board bow a few years back bow fishing) so for now I'm still trying to relearn the stick and string, and I have a maple board in the attic from a few years back just waiting to be built. Hopefully with it being prime time hunting season Sacagewea will get some blood on her but unfortunately it won't be from me. I'm not going to lie though if Buff stick had big oak I would've brought her there just like I did the first go around just to reminisce.

Here's my sidekick. He's been with me while I've shot a deer the last 4 years. Only bad thing is he will talk me into shooting anyone that's legal and comes in.....I would post more photos but if you don't use tapatalk it's almost impossible for me to post pictures.

Awesome write up!!! Congrats on those kiddos. Do everything you can with them every chance you get. Before you know it, they will be all grown up and out on their own.
Oh yeah, and thanks for the compliment! I’m no hero! I’m just a guy who really loves to hunt with a stickbow!!! Marty, on the other hand, could be any trad guys hero!!!! Bisch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Last edited by Bisch; 11-04-2020 at 08:11 PM. |

![]() I don’t think there is one anywhere??? This thread and pass around has been going on for almost 9 years. The idea behind it was for folks in the trad forum to get to know each other a little better. Critters taken with Sacajawea are just icing on the cake! Bisch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Sac is riding shotgun at the moment. She made it safe and sound best can tell. Probably won’t be home in time to shoot her till Monday but we shall see. I might find a spare minute or two.

Don’t have time to give a full on bio at the moment but did get a chance to dance with the ole girl again yesterday. Man she is a great shooter. Plan as of right now is to take her to Oklahoma and try my hand at a whitetail doe (OR buck) if I can get the chance. Then finish out my time with her at the H. Hopefully I can be the first to have multiple state kills with her. But honestly I’ll settle for just getting to carry her to the woods in both places.
I’ll do a semi live update and a full bio once I make it up to Oklahoma on Friday afternoon. |

Sorry to hear that, brother!!! I pinched a nerve in my neck in 2016 and thought for a good while I would never be able to hunt again with a bow. It’s mostly better now, but still not back to 100%. Best of luck getting over it!

I had the bow back in December of 2019. My wife Kristin was in the middle of her battle with brain cancer. She wanted to partake in the travel of the bow. Finally, I’ve figured out how to size the darn photos to put a few up. You can see my oldest daughter, her Army officer hubby, Kristin and myself. I was so proud of her to push through the treatments (chemo, Optune and Avastin) and still sling arrows with us. I’ll post up a video of her shooting it when I figure out how to do it.
Kristin passed away 11-1-2020. May she Rest In Peace. She was a good one - the best. Last edited by IowaHunter; 01-03-2021 at 09:09 PM. |

Hello all friends and brothers and sisters of the bow,
It's me back again. I started and facilitated this concept years ago. It was not my original idea, as something similar had been done before. This was in fact my second attempt to get a traveling bow started on a journey. I could not have imagined how well this would work and how many of us would be able to experience the bow. Yes we had a few set backs and repairs along the way, but any epic journey has a few obstacles and set backs. about four years ago I guess, I was given the opportunity to travel at very little cost. I pretty much hung up my bows and started seeing the world. It was at that time that I asked Bisch to take over the handling of the bow, as I would be out of the country for extended periods. I asked him because he was one of the best hunters, loyal friends, and most trusted people I knew. I felt like he had and deserved everyone's respect. It was suppose to be for a short time, but ended up being years. I can not thank him enough for his commitment and attention to the project. Now we are at a point where we have exhausted many lists and our little bow has been in a great many hands, often more than once. Bisch has informed me that the bow is on its way back to me. I believe that it is time we give our girl a little rest. While I have always stated and still feel the bow belongs to the community here, still it must reside somewhere. Because I was the originator of the project, for the time being she will be in my hunting room. I can't say what the future holds, but it is not out of the question that we might start her again at a later time. I want to thank everyone who participated, enjoyed the experience, shared their stories, and kept her safe during her adventures. Wishing you safe and successful hunting, Mark Johnson AKA Chunky |

I have the bow back and while I did not put it together or string it, it appears to be in great condition from a quick look. She will be here at the Lost Cow Ranch for now, perhaps next year, we can talk about options. Anyone in the Houston area is welcome to contact me and stop by as always.
