    Crack on frame?

Hello guys. Just acquired this s&w 60-14 and noticed this crack here, by the hammer. I'm not really familiar with revolvers at all so I'm not sure if this is how its supposed to be as it lines up with the line on the side of the frame. Please excuse me for not knowing the appropriate term. So, crack or no?

I wouldn’t shoot it. Looks cracked to me. I would try to send it to S&W and have them check it out.

lol...That's not a crack. That is how the gun comes apart, that is the seam of the side plate. All S&W have that...Some of y'all are messing with him...

Side plate. If you are talking about that little space by the seam next to the hammer, someone has pried the side plate off and marred it. That side plate can be hard to take off some times.

don't ever attempt to remove the plate with any prying method. Proper way is to remove the cyl & the screws with a good set of gunsmithing bits that fit the screws correctly. Hold the gun flat in your hand / plate side down into the palm...Using a new smooth or micro fiber towel draped over the opposit side & give some taps with a mallet till the plat falls off on it's own

Look at some youtube vids to see what I mean.
