Once the onions are about charred, add a handful of Chile de arbol. Charr.

Simple as can be, but my favorite salsa. Eat on anything from eggs to steak to tacos.

BUT I'm going to use this as a base recipe now and start swapping japs for Serranos, add in a ghost or some habanero etc. Maybe roast instead of boil.
Thank you for sharing, my garden is really starting to pick up and I'm looking forward to experimenting!

I use serranos as well sometimes. My wife is kind of a weenie about spicy after not eating it during pregnancy.

Almost the same green sauce recipe I use. I just add some chicken bullion to my boil water and do 75/25 mix of jalapeños/serranos.
Couple tips I learned. Do not cut your peppers before boiling, all the capsaicin will escape into the water and your sauce will be bland. 75/25 to 50/50 mix of jalapeños to serranos works well. Any more serranos and Things heat up quickly. Once I made some with 80/20 serranos to jalapeños plus threw in a habanero, and that stuff would melt your face! It tasted good, but after the first bite You couldn’t taste anything anymore.
