I was sitting in a tree stand overlooking a field in between some cut corn and turnips in southeast Iowa on 11/6. Around 9am I saw a buck moving through the timber a good ways off from me. I grunted at him and picked up my bow. Within probably 5 seconds a small 8 point had ran around 150 yards across the field and was under my tree. I was thinking that’s a cool encounter when I heard grunting and this buck was running my way from the same area the smaller buck did. He came to a perfect spot I ranged at 15 yards earlier and I was able to make a good shot. I hunted for several more days with my doe tag hoping to see some rutting action and it was really slow, maybe it had something to do with the weather. I feel fortunate to come home with this buck.
