Galveston area fishing

Wife and I are heading down this evening. Wondering if it was worth taking any rods with me to try and catch a few fish. Any tips would be great. I will only have a few bass rods with me. I have a few spoons and other lures but have no clue where to go. Thanks in advance for any information
