What Round are Y’all Killing Gobblers With?

I’ve only killed half dozen turkeys, and I’ve killed them all with a bow. Im wanting to take a bird or two with my shotgun this year. What do you guys prefer for best all around turkey ammo? Is a turkey choke a huge necessity or can I get it done with my goose choke?

Winchester 3" #6 backed up by two rounds of the same in #4s. Black box. Bought a bunch years ago and killed probably 30 birds with them over the years. Only time I got into round two and three is when multiple birds came in. The 6s always dropped the first one.

Depends upon the range you want. My daughter killed one with a 20 gauge shooting improved cylinder with 7.5 AA. Granted he was at 12 yards.......

Go pattern what you have. And see how far it is lethal.

I've shot them with everything from 2 3/4" steel #7 1/2 shot to 3 1/2" #5 shot. 3 1/2" Heavi 13, #5's are the best I've used as far as being able to reach out there and kill them. Federal has new TSS turkey loads that are supposedly the best on the market right now.

3 1/2” #5s is what I use out to about 50 yards with a good tight choke. If they don’t come to me, then I just go to them.
