New Zealand Red Stag

Just returned from my first trip to New Zealand. My buddy and I purchased a red stag hunt about a year ago at a CCA banquet and we finally got to go! The hunt was with Wanganui Safaris on the north island of New Zealand. The country is very beautiful and the people were great. My buddy took a stag that went 431" and I took one that was right at 394". Definitely had to hunt for the stag. I think we only saw 8 mature stags in 5 days of hunting, but we were each able to find one we liked! Scratched that one off the bucket list! Already thinking about going back in a couple years for a trip to the south island and a tahr hunt.

Beautiful country and awesome stag!! How was the lodge you stayed at?

Not a 5 star lodge by any means, but had all the comforts of home. Each hunter had their own bedroom with private bathroom and shower. Guides and staff were very accommodating and we had a great time with them. They cooked delicious meals and had plenty of NZ beer and Crown Royal!
