    First deer rifle

Just finished putting my sons first deer rifle together. Just got to work up some loads now.

Started life as a Howa mini action (barreled action only) in 6.5 Grendel searched most of the summer for a good youth stock and finally found Boyd’s offered one in 12 3/4 length of pull that came in over the weekend and got it all fitted up.

Hope to get him on some pigs this year and a deer next

If it shoots anything like my .223 it should make cloverleafs at 100

If only they made a lefty!!! I cant think of a better gun to start a young one with, but my oldest grandson is a lefty. Probably tune him up with my AR as a single shot next year.

Lever gun is always a good option.

OP, great looking rifle. When he outgrows that stock, y’all can buy a full sized one and bed/fit it together. Then he’ll still have a capable deer gun.

Yes that is the plan it can grow with him just by replacing the stock.

Fortunately my son is right handed while I am left. I grew up with no other option than to learn how to shoot a right handed rifle.
