Yeah - it was unbelievable! They were all in a canyon (80+ in the heard) and it sounded very ominous. This went on all day. It was 2:10pm when he came out and I shot him. I had set up on the water hole at 10am, after they all headed down into the canyon from feeding in the fields all night/early morning.
The ranch was amazing. 375,000 acres that borders the Bighorn National Forest. Whenever the elk get pressured, they feed down to this ranch.
