After owning 3-4 AAC-SD’s, I went the Tikka route only to drop weight. Like mentioned above, I walk a lot and wanted something lighter weight. I had zero complaints with the AAC-SD’s and Varmint/Tactical Remingtons. Probably owned 5-6 over the years and luckily they all shot extremely well. But not as well as my Tikka 16”. Really the only thing I’ve done is swapped to a chassis.

I built a similar gun, but went direct thread Omega 300 with flat cap so the overall barrel length was 22” and lighter weight

I'm planning something similar but in a WSM sized cartridge.

I'm looking at an 18 proof sedero lite in 300 or 338 wsm paired with a light action and stock. Will be a handy rig when / if done.

The 338 slinging 250 bergers at 2600 would be some potent medicine.
