^^^The potential is ceratianly there. with all the companies that now produce the same/similar merchandize, I personally believe they made a calculated move to attract some of the "demographic" they have lost due to expanded competition. I don't think they will loose as much as some people think.

Companies these days have tons of purchasing history/data and certainly use it. Since I don't know anybody that believes Kaepernick is a "hero" for his protest it's hard for me know what people that like him really think/believe. In other words, is he a "hero" in heir eyes?

observation:

with the polarization of our country it's not easy to remain "neutral"(have a slightly different opinion)... No matter what someone thinks peeps want them on their side and if they don't agree with them 100% then they are either traitors or they are racist... That's with all issues to include politics. With all of the social media access, people have never been more miss-informed..

For example, there are people that believe an officer shot an unarmed black teen who had his hands up in Ferguson. It's what was largely portrayed in the media/social media and what some believe. To these people Kaepernick is a hero. I am uncertain as to their numbers but they certainly exist. And this is not to say that these are the people that Nike is targetting with their sales campaign.

I have very few Nike products. The shoes dont fit, made for lady footed men....I guess. Their clothes are made for people with flat butts, no fit me there either. The rest of their products were pretty cheaply made.

Its pretty obvious that Kap thinks, in his mind, that he is a hero. He wouldnt have done the ad. So you know what is said about being prideful(arrogant) and having a haughty spirit?

He doesn't think he's a hero, he thinks he's a black gangster. Is he even black? He looks like he came from Iraq or Afghanistan. He's starved for attention because he sucked as a football player. What everyone should have done is just change the channel every time they show him or bring up his name.

No more Nike for my family of 5. However I am sure Nike will be fine without this straight, conservative, Christian’s money.

They market to young teens and minorities, so this may actually help them in that regard. However my teens will not purchase Nike with my money!

Yep! There will still be riots at Foot Locker when new shoes release. You will still see women using food stamps with their 5 kids running around all wearing brand new $200 Nike's and carrying cell phones. Only in 'Merica! The Greatest Generation is ashamed of what has become of this country. Bunch of thin skinned, entitled, lazy good for nothings that have way to much say (power).

This is probably it...trying to regain the Millennial Market and probably don't lose much of us "older market" that have alredady gone to well made shoes because our feet can't wear junk anymore due to lower back pain and chiropractor bills, let alone the difficulty of rolling out of bed without hurting "oneself" but I digress.....

They will lose some business. May not hurt their bottom line much in the long run though.

Can someone tell me which brands I am still supporting again please. I forget week to week who is bad and who is good...

So, Colin kneels for inequality.

But stands up for a check from Nike?

He is now a "spokesman" for an athletic company exploiting cheap labor and demographics that absolutely should not be buying $200 sneakers.

While the move was a calculated risk on the part of Nike, it wasn't the only brand interested in getting Kaepernick as an ambassador, with rivals Puma and Adidas reportedly among the companies looking to sign the athlete-turned-activist.

What kind of shoes are left ?

I think Puma and Adidas will watch Nike's stock slide over the next 6 months and reconsider that move or make an even better decision and pick a athlete-turned-conservative activist.

I worked with a guy who would impersonate kap (during his playing days) to get women. He showed me a picture and the resemblance was uncanny, aside from this guy being 5'8" or 5'9". My coworker said he was cleaning up with this scam. I wonder if he's doing better or worse these days?

I find it funny that Nike waited until after all of the kids purchased school shoes before they came out with this add. Its a pure marketing ploy. They are in the news (good or bad) and gambling that once the storm passes they will have pandered enough to the crowd that they wanted that it ends up positive for them. This was their safest time to do something like this.

I want to say that he was under contract to Nike since 2011. And that contract was coming up, and Nike resigned him for a mega number.

So the entire time he was being a social justice warrior fighting the man and sacrificing everything, he was getting paid by the man. And he is still getting paid by the man, for sacrificing everything......
