Yeah that was him, sat down on a log to take a break and this 8 point came trotting by with his nose a few inches off the ground. He said he was cruising hard just after the rain stopped. Turned out to be a beautiful day

Well guys I made it out this morning. Saw two black squirrels again, but nothing else yet. Gonna try for another all day sit. Boots were still wet so my feet are a tad chilly but other than that I'm good. Good luck to anyone else who's out here

I wonder if we all wrote a letter to TPWD about letting us use corn to bring in pigs AFTER deer season was over, wonder if that would make a difference.

Tpwd has no dog in that fight. It's up to the main forest guys up in lufkin i think. There's been talk before but they're too hesitant to talk much about it. You know, give these east texas boys and inch of rope and they'll hang themselves

Sure has been quite on this thread. Anybody had a chance to get into the woods lately?

I am jumping back on the horse tomorrow evening. My family and I will be headed to our farm in Mississippi for the Holidays. I am hoping to knock down a doe or two while I am there to top of the freezer.

Unfortunately no, I just recently got out of the hospital. Trying to move a little more and maybe next week I can make it out, but as for now I've got to get the lungs back up and running. Good luck to you next week! Anyone else venturing out?

Nope. I’ve been at work. I’ll be home Wednesday but too much family stuff to do. Friday and Saturday I’m hunting my lease in trinity county. Then Monday and Tuesday will be in the Sam.

And why the hospital Robert? Everything ok?

Thought I caught just a normal cold so I took some medicine and kept trucking. Ended up getting worse and I clocked in with a 104 degree fever. Turns out I've got both an upper respiratory infection and pneumonia. What a combination . I am feeling a little better though, fever is gone now it's just the fluid in the lungs and no voice. Been doing little bits of stuff around the apartment to keep busy but I've been pretty restless.

Got my buck for LBJ earlier this week. Now time to plan a few trips to hopefully fill a Sam doe permit or a buck if I can make it happen.

Our place is in a small community in Eastern MS called Harmony. Itís located between Quitman and Pachuta.

From what I hear, Natchez is a good area to be in the state. Best of luck to you this weekend.

Question for planning a trip down there. I see that camping needs to be in designated areas. Is there also access points or parking areas that have to be used or can you park anywhere? Also is the forestry office the best place to get a map of the forest? Just trying to make sure I am doing the important stuff right. Looking forward to getting down there and learning a new area. It is a bit intimidating due to the large amount of property compared to hunting the grasslands up here.

Equestrian Camp site is a popular hunting campground. Free. 1375 left on 234.

You dont need a map but there is maps available right outside the ranger office. that office is closed on the weekends.

you can park anywhere off the side of the road any public forest road. you will see that when your there. just dont block the gates or any trails.

you should try a hiking trail like the lone star or any other just to get in there. if you try to park off the road and walk in, its really thick now, takes a lot of go thru that. be careful parking off the road, there has been a few wheel spinning in mud already.

Glad to hear that. I just bought 2. Got tired of donating $80 trail cams, $17 locks, $9 mem cards and $5 batteries. I'll still probably lose all that, just $41 less.

I stick mine way up a tree, makes lazy people that want to steal them a little less inclined to do so.
