So how’d that work out?

Curious are you on a lease in Cypress somewhere, or is it property that belongs to someone you know?

Great hunt in the special whitewing South Zone season. 5 easy limits. Should be more of the same this afternoon.

75 WWs and 1 Eurasian.

Throckmorton area was very slowly. Birds averaged 10-15 minutes. That was spotted birds not shot opportunity. Took a long time to settle down and start shooting well. Managed 5.

Unfortunately there wasn't enough doves to get a lot of shooting.

It's some land a buddy owns. 3rd generation family stuff. We used to slaughter them there and another spot where Tomball memorial high school sits now. Westbourne neighborhood used to be a huge roost and held some decent bucks.

Some are still lurking around not far off 249...

I ended up 8 for 11 yesterday. I'm working today so them pesky birds are safe for the time being. Have a great time today folks and be safe.

Way slower than normal in Throckmorton but I managed a limit. 10 hunters and I think we knocked down 110 birds. Worked all day so far not expecting great things this evening but we’ll try once more

Got a good report so we made the 2 hour drive just to find that pop- up shower is parked over our dove field pouring rain. Hope it didn’t run them all off

Get ready to shoot as soon as that shower blows over. I've had some excellent hunts after a summer rain.

Yep, Round 2 nutkick with Double H Outfitters is underway. Got checked in and placed along a mesquite thicket with a sunflower field in front of us. Sat 30 minutes and then I hear the guide putting hunters on the other side of the mesquite. This mesquite tree line is no more than 30 yards wide and once again we would be blocked from any birds coming in from that way and the few that we had seen, that's the way they were coming.
I went up to the checkin point and told them either refund money or put us somewhere that we would actually get some shooting in.
Another guide sets us up in another spot and just went on about how good the guys did here yesterday and said "If you don't get your limits here, it's not because the birds aren't here. It would be your shooting." I told him that is fine. If I go through 3 boxes of shells and no limit is still a good time.
So here we are set up in the "hot spot" for 1 1/2 hours and I haven't pulled the trigger yet.
The picture is how they have them set up on the other side of the drainage ditch. That's exactly how it is on this side of it, surrounded by sunflower fields with hunters all around those.

Another fast and crazy 5 limits from the special whitewing area west of SA. Son of a ***** were there a bunch of birds. The biggest problem was choosing which one to shoot!. Took us about 1.5 hours for all 5 folks

Awesome stuff. I love special white wing season more than general. Not sure why I just love shooting the white wings. We had very easy limits just outside of corpus this weekend.

Some great memories for my twin 7yr old boy’s first dove hunt. Couldn’t believe it, but one of them killed his first dove by himself with his 410 Pump. Proud dad for sure. We had great hunts and limited out. They even wanted to help me breast them out.

It was still a little slow over by 471 in SA yesterday, was able to manage 7 birds. The guy we were hunting with is an outfitter and he said a lot of people are struggling all over the place in SA/Rio Medina area.

We had more birds than expected down in Mercedes...Farmdog lost the big field from the flood but was able to massage the smaller field closer to the house. Said the flowers were completely underwater at one point.

It all sorta came together last minute & difficult to commit the out of towers for a successful trip which was a bummer. Easy limits both days & man was it HOT.

Good to see Dave, Eldog & Legdog...sorry Agdog & crew couldn't make it this year!!

Saludos!!

It's by far my favorite...doesn't happen often, but if they are thick during our 2 week late season around Christmas / New Years, I'll be at a tank hammering birds vs sitting in a blind during the rut. Yeah, it's a hoot.

We had 37 limits out of 39 people in one field on Saturday. In total we killed 1500+ birds for the weekend. We have openings next weekend if anyone is interested. Flatlined outfitters out of El Campo

Got limits out on the Katy prairie Saturday morning... Great hunt, great fellowship and great eats after the hunt... we made dove ka-bobs with onions, peppers, bacon, etc... Our host's wife made a big ol pot of beans... we ate like kings!!
My hunt was almost over before it got started... I was using my BPS .410 bore and shot my first bird with the first shot... pumped the action and tried to shoot that bird's buddy... gun wouldn't shoot!! Don't have a clue how, but the nut that holds the forearm to the slide assembly had come completely unscrewed and was lost!! I took the gun apart while doves were dive-bombing our Mo-Jo's and just put the slide assembly back on without the forearm... I was back in business!! Sure was surprising how much not having a forearm on the gun messed up with mounting and shooting the gun... I got it sorted out, but never got comfortable with it...

NOTE: The pics with me and my buddy looks bad as it looks like I'm pointing the gun right at his head... he was behind me a lot. It's just a bad camera angle...

Glad to hear it! We were gonna come, but was still very iffy. Got an invite just off 1604 in SA. Killed 9 Saturday morning and 8 Sunday morning. Pass shooting high birds. Fun, but not WWA😄. Hope to make it back next year

Hunted in Uvalde for 2 days with 8 hunters, I think we wound up with 65 birds between us all. Very slow action for our outfitter and another hunting the same fence line. That was an uncomfortable situation as we were landlocked in a sliver of a triangle between a right of way that one group was hunting and another disked field that another group was hunting.

This was our first time hunting the central zone in 8 years and we will just wait for the South opener from now on.

The guide next to us told his group that the day was free and they were going just outside and west of San Antonio for the afternoon hunt, about 90 minutes from Uvalde as that is where the birds were.

Several guides called their hunters midday on Sunday and told them to get in the field by 1pm as they were flying.

El Campo had the goods today!
30 minute limits between 4:45 & 5:15.
Then it really turned on!!!
Could have shot another limit in 10 minutes.
The field was swamped in white wings as we packed up.
I haven't seen waves and waves of White wings like that in years!!!

Had another slow day, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Ended up with 7 out of 10 overall. I started 2 out of 4 with my Citori 12ga so I switched to the Remmy 870 and went 5 for 5 before missing a Hail Mary to finish 5 of 6 with the pump. I seem to wingshoot better with the single barrel guns for some reason, but shoot sporting clays and skeet better with the over/under guns.....odd. BTW, my bird dog had a blast.

Man, you guys did way better than me. I only fired 2, 2 stinking rounds all day! Came home with 1 Eurasian. I think the Tstorms wreaked havoc on the bird's flight pattern. Oh well, I'll try again next. wk.
