                      No. That deer could be 8. Deer that have chin flaps are a minimum of 6 usually. Could have easily been a 5 yr old in 18 and 8 yr old now.

                      I read an article where deer are miss- aged even by biologist over 60 percent of the time. Unless you have a personal relationship with your herd you'll never know an exact age.

                      But they do have tell tell signs that can give us a close estimate and make an educated guess. Especially for someone walking into a new pasture.

                      And I can guarantee you " white around the eyes" sure isn't one of them.
