    01 z71 a.c. ??

So after years of worry free freeze out conditions my pickup stopped blowing cold and making a racket coming from my compressor. I'm bout 99% sure I need a new one, or bearings in the clutch are gone. How hard are they to change and can I just change that or is there more parts needed? Freon levels good no fuses blown. Thx gs

time for a new compressor, accumulator and refill. you got 20 yrs of service from it which is really good.
once you get it out and the new stuff in you will need a vacuum pump to evacuate system before pushing the freon in. Lots of how to on you tube if you are not a regular mechanic.

If you want to do it right, and it last a long time again. You need to change the compressor, accumulator, orifice tube, and condenser. Make sure you flush the lines and evaporator out really well. I actually would even change the manifold hose if it has a muffler on it, hard to flush those out Especially with a compressor failure pumping metal everywhere.
      Just my 2cents.
