I bought hefty on BUZZ etf that ipo’d this morning. Had to chance to buy PENN at $6 when portnoy came into the picture. I wasn’t missing out again.

I am so mad! I bought way lower and lost out alot on PENN. I bought back in and currently up $2500 again but on way less shares as I originally had

Well the market took a crap in a quick moment. I am shocked TESLA, PLug, EV stuff, weed just keep on falling. Great time to buy, but worried it may keep going. LORD

Probably the correction I mentioned to you. Best to just ride it out. It won't last that long. All 6 corrections b/w 2008-2020 were setting new all time highs four months later.

Does the trading platform you're using offer trailing stops? If so look into using them when something runs up. Use a value like ATR to set your stop. It will allow for normal fluctuations in price. I tend to set mine for 1.5x the ATR and let it ride. You can tighten it up if needed.

Ride it out? Sell then buy back later when it's lower! Let someone else hold it while it's dropping.

You can't time the market but you can buy and sell stocks when the charts shows strong momentum either direction and increase your probability of making or not losing as much. Work does get in the way sometimes though. For example I didn't get out of BABA when the signals were there because of work. I'll most likely just hold now. Others like SQ I got out recently when it was around 250. It was below 220 today. $30/share cheaper that I can buy back in now. So every 100 shares I can still have the same number of shares but also an additional 3000 in my account to buy something else.

At some point, you’ve gotta be able to see the reason for why people are on the other side of the trade you are making. You can never get too married to a position you’re in. You’ll lose a lot of money from refusing to cut your losses and putting your capital elsewhere. I sold my gold miners at a 20% loss. No big deal. Sitting pretty with a lot of cash to deploy and enjoying a boom in much maligned dirty oil and gas industry.

Also, if you don’t know how rising rates affect the stock market, maybe getting out of stocks all together would be a good thing.

i rarely understand much of what you post, i just like it best when the ones i pick go up.

BUT if you're in good companies selling now when they have been beat up is a bad strategy. As long as nothing has changed with that company anyway

AMEN to this! Take the emotion out of it and long term thoughts

Everything that I have had that was negative I have held onto long enough to sell for a profit.

Now as we speak, I am in the hole BIG on a few EV/Tech stocks. No biggie though, they will come back up

I don't understand what all the hoopla is about. Look at the S&P and most of the funds that are in a 401K. This is not a crash. It's EV/Tech stocks that were way overpriced correcting. If you were invested in them and were ahead....you should have sold along time ago.

Will EV be here to stay and eventually beat highs 4-5 weeks ago? Yes I think so also. Long term thoughts

Good companies are good companies, but valuations matter too. Stocks trading 30x price to earnings aren’t a good value. Stocks that don’t turn a profit are pretty **** risky in this environment. Buy low, sell high.

here's a prediction that goes totally against the conventional wisdom. Ford will outperform Tesla by year end (not even including how much Tesla has fallen so far this year).

I think the best way to make money right now is to be short treasuries with the stimulus bill passing (or be long commodities). I don't know how markets will react monday. Maybe they'll shrug off the rise on bond yields and buy into the narrative that it isn't inflation fears driving a rise in interest rates, but instead it's the bond market pricing in future growth. I suspect any rally to be short lived though if the treasury auctions next week go badly. The only danger to being short treasuries is the Fed implementing some sort of yield curve control, but you can hedge against that risk with a position of being long commodities.

Banks are in good shape as long as the yield curve continues to steepen. Fed will put a stop to that eventually though. Bought some XLF at the open and plan to hold until daddy Powell stops the tech bleeding.

Sold too soon. I bought 10 shares of GME last week when it was 125.00 and today when it ran up to 160.00 I sold and took my 300+ profit. Then it started going down and I thought good move on my part, until it began to climb up again. Hit nearly 200.00 before sitting at around 183.00 right now. Of well at least it was a profit.

I lost my Ars on that stock last time I tried that. I got scared and bailed. Now it’s up to 200 today.

Don't remind me LOL I got scared too when I bought it evertone was predicting 200.00 + then it went to 140.00 and came crashing back to 123.00 so I was losing a bit. I said if it just go up to 150.00 I would sell. Got to 160 and I sold.

I've been stashing cash in an S&P 500 index fund for the last 15 months, which has provided a good steady return. But after months of talking about it and missing out on the Oct/Nov dip, I finally opened an e*trade account last month and started playing around with stocks. I told myself I'd stick to the blue chips and not get caught up in the riskier stocks, but that didn't last long. I have a couple of blue chips that are long term holds (like XOM which has me up 20% so far) but I can't help but goof around with some of the more volatile ones. PLUG has been a roller coaster ride, but after today I'm back where I need to be with them and FCEL was a good buy for me late last week. At some point I know I'll snap out of it and realize I'm not playing with monopoly money, but so far this has been fun and only minimally stressful.
