donate it to a local museum etc. and get a letter from them to use as a charitable contribution on your taxes.

cats are very difficult to mount and have them look realistic. Not many taxidermists I have know can do them well. Unless you can find one who can, you are better off skinning it out and tanning the hide, or just drying and stretching it to hang on your office wall.

The taxidermist called and told me he needed to work on it a little longer. I had no problem telling him I'm in no rush and he can take his time

I believe he told me it will be ready in a week or two. I'm really hoping it looks better.

brutally funny thread... I guess I did well losing my $80.00 deposit when my Taxi skipped town and left with my bobcat pelt... it was a cheap learning experience... I can certainly cross bobat mount off bucket my list items now...

Your bobcat looks better than the one I had done as is. I shot it in the neck and face with a shotgun and instead of asking me anything he mounted it on a smaller form. He jacked it all up by doing that.

This thread makes me think there should be a section devoted to things that turned almost, but not even close to what they were supposed to be. Something similar to "Cake Wrecks" or "Pinterest Fail". Maybe a DIY Fail or Taxi-Fail or something.

I tried to replicate a bird feeder I saw posted by Jerp. After the first test fill, I ended up sweeping bird seed out of my garage for months.

Some taxidermist shouldn't take jobs they aren't capable of doing. Some should just man up and admit that they either suck at certain mounts or need a LOT more practice ....sry about your cat man.

My regular Taxidermist does good deer but I saw a bobcat he did for himself and yeah... Not ever telling him I ever killed a cat.
