Whoa!
I would have a honest talk with him and I would offer to pay for the materials but that is it. He gets a free attempt at a cat mount. I think that is a fair deal considering the circumstances.

I always wonder why hunters that kill bobcats just don't skin out the bobcat and send the pelt off for tanning. They would have a superior finished product over about 95% of all bobcat mounts.

I had one done and it looked similar to yours. I eventually sold it in a garage sale. Couldn't keep it on the wall without getting mad. Lesson learned.

All you bad bobcat mount owners should have a get together where you put all of your mounts on a big table and take a pic. Then you could sell the photo to guys who have recently shot bobcats. They could take the photo to their taxidermist and say "not like any of these" and the taxi would have all kinds of crappy examples to try and avoid.

Sorry for your loss...I think there is a lot of bad taxi work out there not just cats. Some of the deer mounts people post are just as bad. Like the op said you get what you pay for. If you are going to stare at it for the next 20 years it better look amazing

In my opinion, Wildlife Artist does the best cats, bar none. Most taxidermists, even the good ones, aren't in his league when it comes to cats. I can't even afford to guess what he charges.

probably the eyes or really the pupils. most cats look cross-eyed because of the slanted pupils. pupils should be slightly slanted on top.
