Love it when a plan comes together! To say 2020 has been a little crazy would be an understatement. We have experienced so many unknowns. All the business closures, openings, re closures. Total chaos. It was no different for SCI Houston and our annual Hunter Education class. We were on for the middle of last summer, then our venue cancelled all events. We had decided to not have a class this year... until Scott Lightle with TPWD contacted me. After visiting with Scott and the folks at the Long Acres Ranch in Richmond, Tx, we were back in business!
SCI HOUSTON held our 16th annual Hunter Education class at the historic Long Acres Ranch, and it was awesome! 76 students braved the bitter cold and blizzard like conditions, to take the class. Well, actually, temps were in the 50’s with a slight breeze. But hey, this is Texas and it was 93 degrees the afternoon before! Ms Kitty Haynes did an outstanding job keeping the kids engaged. It was a long day, but, there lots of information to cover. Everything from ethics, laws, skills training and live fire.
In addition to a very informative, hands on class, folks were treated to breakfast, lunch (which was provided by Bonfire Wings) snacks and drinks all provided at no charge. And, all registration fees were taken care of by SCI Houston.
And, there were a some lucky winners that won some really cool prizes! Brooke Northern and James Galpin were the big winners. Both won a Savage 22 rifle! Other winners took home and assortment fishing rods and tackle, pocket knives and trail cameras.
