                  Get a two probed electric unit. Stick one in the meat and one on the grate. I think you can get a Weber one for $30 or so.

                    I have a thermometer on mine but don’t really use it at all. I’ve found if I grab the exhaust stack and I can keep my hand there for 2-3 seconds before it gets too hot to hold I’m GTG. If it’s hot right away, slow her down, but that’s rarely an issue. If I can keep my hand on it for 5 seconds plus I need to stoke the fire.
