My thought is the same reason there isn't elephants and Rhino's here is why moose aren't here. People think they are some cuddly creature, and they would take a ton of work to get here, then the work required to produce a profit-able hunt-able population would price them out of a lot of people's budget.
That and State law prohibits hunting them

    ""Canned Hunts" (Dangerous Wild Animals)
No person may kill or attempt to injure a dangerous wild animal (African or Asiatic lion, tiger, leopard, cheetah, hyena, bear, elephant, wolf, or rhinoceros, or any subspecies or hybrid of these animals) that is held in captivity in this state or that is released from captivity in this state for the purpose of being killed, nor may any person conduct, promote, advertise, or assist in the hunting of a dangerous wild animal (Parks and Wildlife Code §62.101-§62.107)."

I have personally seen a “pet” moose inside a high fence in Parker County.

Buddy of mine had a moose. It was like hand feeding a horse. He died though. Too hot. Collin county in 2016.

This. The one in the pic above could lick the skin right off your hand.

Cow moose are extremely dangerous when they have calves. They hurt more folks than bears

There was a ranch in Columbus called the loose moose that had at least one. I saw it myself about 15 years ago.

I'm afraid to show the pictures we have alot of outstanding members from that area. I didn't want the knuckles to be a match.

Look where they live, pretty cold and wet most places. Not how I would describe Texas.

They have really thick hides, I feel sorry for any moose that someone tried to keep in Texas.

Typical high fence seems to work for my neighbor. He has a heard of about 40-50 Bison.
