It’s incredibly green right now out there! The oats and wheat are starting to show seed. The new small tank is filled. Seeing lots of gobblers in these 3 fields every day out there, which is always fun to see. Does anyone have any experience in mowing the wheat/oats down so it’s more tender and make it more attractive to deer? Just curious if anyone had ever done this or not.

Lochow Pond & Lake Management is coming out on April 11th to do an electrofishing survey, test the water, and take a look at the leak in our dam. We are looking forward to seeing what they say and whether they make any recommendations on how we can improve our bass pond further (i.e. water test, aeration, habitat, removing/adding fish, etc.). I'll be sure to keep you posted. Have a great day!

Lochow Pond Management came out today to do a fish survey and helped treat the shallower areas with algae. I’ll be sure to update you their recommendations along with the testing results.

Yes, here is a snapshot of the bass relative weight index. We need to add more forage fish to help increase our bass weights along with removing all bass under 12in long.

Our biggest issue right now is the leak in the dam. We need to fix this before adding more forage fish.

That's based on the ones they were able to get on the boat. They say this is around 10% of the population. They said they saw several bass that were a lot larger but weren't able to net. They recommended that we add a lot more forage fish to help improve the bass growth rates, which I figured we needed to do.
