Amdro is only thing I've found that works.

I know you’re looking for broadcast suggestions but the best thing to knock out the mounds is a bottle of Orthene mixed with a cup of cornmeal and a packet of strawberry jello mix.

Fire ants can’t digest corn gluten so what the Orthene doesn’t kill the corn gluten does. Stops them up and can’t have a bowel movement. The jello attracts them.

The mound is dead the next morning. Covered with dead ants.

Part of it needs to be in the dog pen. I would hate to put any thing that the pup might be atracted to.

            Extinguish

Follow dosing directions, if you put out too much the ants won’t think of it as “special” and won’t take it to the queen

Extinguish. To broadcast it you might have to use some kind of aggregate. I believe it only takes one to two pounds per acre.

                      Extinguish is a great product.

I am not a fan of the granules, works for a bit. I spot treat individual mounds with Demon SP from Tractor Supply. Mix it in a pump up sprayer and spray the mounds. They are dead in 5-10 minutes

Over and out. I've used it for years twice a year and you won't have fire ants.
